A new bar influenced by modern European and traditional American cuisines has debuted in the neighborhood. Called Alcove, the new arrival is located at 50 Lovejoy Wharf in North End.

Alcove offers an array of starters, shareable plates and main dishes. Patrons can start with a selection from the raw bar, like the Jonah Crab Cocktail, with mango, lime, cilantro and coriander. The shareable plates include Spanish octopus, with marbled potatoes, black olives and ancho chile, while the list of entrees includes dishes like grilled swordfish with eggplant caponata and pine nuts.

With a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, the fresh addition has been warmly received by patrons.

Leuncie P., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Nov. 4, wrote, "We went to Alcove for drinks. I had wine, but my friend had a few cocktails, which she really liked. We had the cheese platter/charcuterie. We liked that the server took the time to explain to us where each cheese was from. ... Overall, a great experience."

And Garret W. wrote, "The food is delicious, staff is great, and the location and space are awesome. Get the octopus. The wine list is silly, with lots of Easter eggs."

Head on over to check it out: Alcove serves dinner from 5–11 p.m. on Monday–Thursday, 5 p.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday and 4:30–10:30 p.m. on Sunday. Going for drinks? The bar remains open until midnight on Sunday-Thursday, and 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
