As fans of cronuts and cake pops can attest, food trends come and go. So how can you tell which tastes are trending in Miami Beach right now?

We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to deduce which eateries have been getting a noteworthy increase in attention this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at Miami Beach businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increase their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Read on to see which spots are on a hot streak, right now.

Open since September 2017, this New American spot, which offers seafood and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "American (New)" on Yelp.

Citywide, New American spots saw review counts increase by a median of 2.6 percent over the past month, but Stubborn Seed saw a 40.5 percent increase, maintaining a healthy 4.5-star rating throughout. Moreover, on a month-to-month basis review counts increased by more than 340 percent.

It's not the only trending outlier in the New American category: Bacon Bitch has seen a 14.1 percent increase in reviews, and The Tavern has seen a 10.4 percent bump.

Located at 101 Washington Ave. in South Pointe, Stubborn Seed offers seasonal American eats from Top Chef winner Jeremy Food. These include the popular chicken liver mousse on lavash with smoked chili jam; pasta with asparagus, aged parmesan and shaved Iberico ham; butter poached lobster and desserts like organic strawberry doughnuts and snicker doodle cookies.

Open since the fall of 2014 at 1245 Lincoln Road, the popular Peruvian and Latin American spot, which offers seafood and more, has seen a 38.6 percent bump in reviews over the last month, compared to a median review increase of 4.7 percent for all businesses tagged "Seafood" on Yelp. Moreover, on a month-to-month basis review counts increased by more than 470 percent.

Over the past month, CVI.CHE 105  has also maintained a strong 4.5-star rating among Yelpers.

North Shore's Taquiza is the city's buzziest bar by the numbers.

The bar and Mexican spot, which opened at 7450 Ocean Terrace in April, increased its review count by 19 percent over the past month, an outlier when compared to the median review increase of 3.3 percent for the Yelp category "Bars." It outperformed the previous month by gaining twice as many reviews than expected based on past performance.

It's not the only trending outlier in the bar category: Maxine's Bistro & Bar has seen a 14.2 percent increase in reviews.

Taquiza/Casa De Masa offers classics like carne asada and al pastor on homemade gluten-free tortillas and the more traditional Mexican taco — adobo-seasoned dried grasshoppers on guacamole — plus chilaquiles and squash blossom quesadillas. (See the full menu here.)
