A predawn confrontation on North F Street in Lake Worth Beach turned deadly early Saturday, leaving one man dead and three others wounded with stab wounds. Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported stabbing at approximately 1:20 a.m. in the 700 block of North F Street and found four adult male victims, all showing apparent stab wounds, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
All four men were transported to a local hospital for treatment, but one victim was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving, per PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera, as reported by WPBF. A second victim is being treated for life-threatening injuries, while the remaining two are being treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening. Preliminary information indicates that an altercation involving several men led to the stabbings, though investigators have not detailed what sparked the confrontation.
Deputies located the victims at the scene, according to Boca Post, which reported that the fatality has escalated the case into an active homicide investigation. Violent Crimes Division detectives are now investigating the stabbings, and the station's report notes that suspect information remains unknown as of Saturday. Sheriff's Contract Talks Underway as Case Unfolds
The stabbing lands amid an unusually sensitive moment for Lake Worth Beach's relationship with its police provider. The city contracts all law enforcement services through the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, with operating expenditures budgeted at $15,192,482 for the current fiscal year, according to a city executive brief. Lake Worth Beach has relied on PBSO for law enforcement since fiscal year 2008 rather than maintaining its own municipal police force.
City commissioners agreed on August 21 to delay approval of their updated, multi-million-dollar policing contract with PBSO to September 1 while finalizing body-camera budgeting and other contract terms, according to Citizen Portal AI. Commissioners had also raised questions about body-camera costs for park rangers and broader contract oversight. Potential Charges Once a Suspect Is Identified

Under Florida Statutes Section 782.04, an unlawful killing resulting from a physical dispute can be prosecuted as first-degree or second-degree murder, with second-degree murder carrying penalties of up to life imprisonment and not requiring premeditation. The non-fatal stabbings of the three surviving victims could separately expose a suspect to aggravated battery charges under Florida Statutes Section 784.045, a second-degree felony carrying up to 15 years in state prison per count, according to analysis by Sammis Law Firm.
This is not the first violent stabbing to strike Lake Worth Beach in recent years.
