New to 3624 W. Baseline Road, Suite 174, in Laveen is Mimi Forno Italiano, an Italian spot that is serving up wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas, baked lasagna with meat sauce, calzones and more.
The eatery appears to be a hit thus far, with a 4.5-star rating on Yelp. Reviewer Angela E. wrote, "Great Italian in Laveen! Mortadella pizza is delish, tiramisu is amazing. Owner and staff are very welcoming."
Whyld Ass

Whyld Ass is a vegan restaurant that recently opened at 4810 N. Seventh St. in Alhambra. Yelpers are fans of Whyld Ass: it's got five stars out of 13 reviews, so far.
This is the restaurant's second location and offers scratch-made, plant-based fare. Look for the quinoa breakfast porridge with housemade coconut milk; the stuffed French toast with berry compote and sweet Danish cashew cheese sauce; or the curry chickpea salad wrap.
Thai Recipe Bistro

Wander over to 2234 N. Seventh St., Suite 105, in Encanto and you'll find Thai Recipe Bistro.
The restaurant offers weekday lunch specials. On the menu, you'll find traditional Thai dishes such as Thai fried rice, Panang curry and pad see ew plus signature items like Hawaiian pepper beef and salmon pumpkin curry.
Across the Pond

Across the Pond is a cocktail bar and sushi bar that recently made its debut at 4236 N. Central Ave., Suite 101, in Encanto.
Order nigiri, temaki (hand roll) and sashimi, along with a signature cocktail or sake.
Ashley W., who reviewed it on Nov. 2, wrote, "The vibe is super chill, comfortable with a modern speakeasy feel. It's a small, dark and intimate location and you'll feel welcomed and right at home! The bartenders and servers are all incredibly nice and attentive."
Temaki Sushi

Another newcomer, Temaki Sushi is located at 6135 N. 35th Ave., Suite 133 in Alhambra. The restaurant comes courtesy of Jose Camano and Jose Castillo, who have more than 20 years of experience in the sushi industry, according to the eatery's website.
The restaurant offers a dine-in happy hour menu, as well as lunch and dinner menus that feature teriyakis, udon soups, and sushi and sashimi combos.
