Love baking, but wish you could browse related books and housewares over a cup of coffee? Look no further than this new arrival. The newcomer to East Cambridge, called Elmendorf Baking Supplies, is located at 594 Cambridge St.
It is a retail and community space for bakers as well as a café, according to its website. The location wants to create "a home for Boston's baking community, a place where experienced bakers can take their craft to the level and hobbyists can sharpen their skills."
To that end, in addition to the pastries and coffee, patrons will find house-milled flour, specialty ingredients, and -- eventually -- baking classes.
With a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, the fresh addition has been warmly received by patrons.
Jake B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Nov. 25, wrote, "Great baked goods, great coffee -- a terrific little coffee shop that just happens to have cool and useful baking tools and equipment and entertaining cookbooks to browse. It's a great mashup."
Yelper Mark S. added, “[I] just got baked goods to go but they were very good as was the atmosphere and the staff's attitude. Neat little place.”
