Looking to chow down on some Cuban fare? A new spot has you covered. The newcomer to Diamond Lake, called Guavas Cuban Cafe, is located at 5607 Chicago Ave.
On the menu, expect to find breakfast and lunch fare like omelets, rice-based entrees, Cubano sandwiches, burgers and loaded French fries. Heartier choices include the lechon asado braised pork shoulder and the picadillo beef stew. (You can find the full menu here.)
With a four-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, Guavas Cuban Cafe has gotten a good response from early patrons.
Aaron L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on November 28, wrote, "I don't know how you can give them anything but a five! Great food and they are adding to the menu and refining their finishing touches daily."
And Joe N. wrote, "First meal at the new Guavas this morning. Solid Havana breakfast -- eggs, sausage patties, Cuban toast and excellent Moros (black beans cooked with white rice). Outstanding fried yuca."
