
A new Japanese spot has opened up shop in the neighborhood. The new arrival to Haymarket, called Kamakura, is located at 150 State St. (between Chatham Row and India Street).
Serving Kaisek cuisine, which are intricate, refined small plates, the menu includes unique offerings like tofu and sea urchin, yuan-marinated cod and fried fig tempura. it also offers a sake program, plus cocktails, wine and draft beers.
Kamakura has garnered positive reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.
Jay S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Nov. 17, wrote, "[This] new place [has] cool vibes and amazing service! ... From the sake, appetizer, main course and an after dinner snack, the experience was best-in-class for having eaten sushi in Japan. Truly an up and comer."
Yelper Alex C. added, “Wow was I blown away. From the decor to the service to the food, everything was on point. Their menu is great and has so many options. ... I love how it's a modern take on Japanese food, and the inside is really sleek and clean.”
The new spot is open for lunch from 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, and open for dinner service from 5–10 p.m. Monday-Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
