Cupcakes are having a moment, and with good reason. The single-serving treats take well to intricate decorations as well as to unusual, even outlandish, flavor combinations. Bacon and coffee, anyone?

Hoodline rounded up Plano's most popular cupcake sellers, using Yelp data and our own methodology, to help you decide where to spend your cupcake dollars on National Cupcake Day, also known as Dec. 15.

Choose wisely.

1. Millstone Bakery

Topping the list is Millstone Bakery. Located at 3020 Legacy Drive, Suite 150, the bakery and deli, which offers cupcakes and more, is the highest rated cupcake spot in Plano, boasting 4.5 stars out of 110 reviews on Yelp.

This family-owned bakery is really a cafe in disguise, offering sandwiches, soups and salads in addition to the sweet stuff.  Their cupcakes are often creatively decorated to resemble mascots or much cuter creatures like cats and dogs. Yelpers recommend the strawberry cupcakes made with cream cheese frosting. (See the entire menu here.)

Yelper Jennifer G. said, "I would consider this establishment as one of Plano's hidden gems. If you're looking for delicious custom cakes and desserts, Millstone Bakery is the place to go. I ordered strawberry cupcakes made with cream cheese frosting for my birthday and they were exceptional. You could see the real strawberries in the big fluffy cupcakes."
