Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top outlets for the satisfying fried combo in Phoenix, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to cast your line.
1. Coconut's Fish Cafe

Topping the list is Coconut's Fish Cafe. Located at 16640 N. Scottsdale Road in Paradise Valley, this outpost of the Hawaii-based chain is the highest rated fish and chips spot in Phoenix, boasting 4.5 stars out of 826 reviews on Yelp.
While the fish tacos are a big hit, so is the fish and chips platter, which includes two pieces of mahi mahi lightly breaded in Italian bread crumbs and served with coconut milk coleslaw and french fries. Coconut's also offers shrimp and chips and calamari and chips platters.
Yelper Angel L. said, "It was nice that they included packets of malt vinegar - also came with a side of coleslaw, ketchup and tartar sauce. [There's] always great service when we are there and always great food."
2. Papa Joe's Fish-n-que

Next up is Alhambra's Papa Joe's Fish-N-Que, situated at 2019 W. Bethany Home Road With 4.5 stars out of 242 reviews on Yelp, the spot to score fish and chips along with barbecue has proven to be a local favorite.
Papa Joe's uses catfish with its fish and chips specials. Customers can order strips of catfish or nuggets, which come in sizes of six, 12, 18 and 24 pieces. Fried shrimp is also an alternative to catfish.
"What a great hole in the wall," Yelper Michael B wrote. "The fish and chips couldn't have been any better. The burger was everything a burger should be, real, not fancy, just great food."
3. Maryln's Fish & Chips

South Mountain's Maryln's Fish & Chips, located at 5436 S. Central Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving it 4.5 stars out of 165 reviews.
Popular items on the menu include both catfish and cod versions of the eponymous dish, which come in two, three, four or five pieces. It also offers shrimp and chips and fish and shrimp combos.
Yelper Andrew M. noted, "[There's] very good service [and] excellent fish and chips. [The] shrimp is excellent, too. Three-piece fish and chips is an enormous amount [with] good cocktail sauce."
4. WTFExp

Just like at Maryln's, diners can order the fish sandwich with either cod, catfish or tilapia, traditional fish and chips as well as shrimp and chips and fish and shrimp combos.
5. Italian Spoon

Over in Camelback East, check out Italian Spoon, which has earned four stars out of 107 reviews on Yelp. You can find the Italian and traditional American spot, which offers fish and chips and more, at 6505 N. Seventh St.
On the menu, the fish and chips come in two, three, four or five-piece orders and customers have the choice of catfish, tilapia or cod. It also offers shrimp and chips and fish and shrimp combos.
