Crime incidents in Cupertino saw an overall decrease last week, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 76 for the week of January 7, down from 81 the week before.

The offenses that decreased the most were vandalism and assault. Vandalism fell to two incidents last week, from six the week before. Assault went from two to one.

Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last week, reports of theft went from 14 to 20, and burglary rose from four to six.

There were 46 reports of "other" crimes, a decrease of eight from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations.

Considering the concentration of crime across the city, South Blaney, North Blaney, and Garden Gate had the most reported incidents last week. Garden Gate was at the top of the list the previous week as well.

Rancho Rinconada saw the largest decline. Crime reports in Creston-Pharlap also fell, after increasing the week before, and incidents in Garden Gate are down considerably as well.

Regarding day and time factors, Saturdays, Wednesdays and Mondays saw the most crime incidents last week. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays, while incidents on Saturdays, Wednesdays and Mondays went up. Early afternoon, late morning and late afternoon saw the most crime last week.
