A new steakhouse and French bistro has opened its doors in the neighborhood. From the owners of Grand Cru Wine Bar and Bistro, the fresh addition is called Bistro Sancerre and is located at 1725 Duke St. near the King Street Metro station.

Starters begin with artisan bread and butternut squash risotto and run to escargot and terrine of foie gras. On the heavier side, there are steaks, like filet mignon in a bordelaise sauce and a red wine-marinated hanger steak, and seafood options, like pan-seared sea scallops and pan-roasted monkfish.

A wine wall in the middle of the dining room entices diners to explore the bistro's collection from around the globe.

The new bisto has gotten off to a solid start thus far, with a 3.5-star rating out of 10 reviews on Yelp.

Matt K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Jan. 18, wrote, "The ambiance is that of a French bistro, but can handle a group of any size. They have an art gallery where you can purchase or simply enjoy the paintings, and their wine selection is impeccable."

And Sujata M. wrote, "I was amazed by the size of this place, the warm atmosphere, mellow yet sophisticated vibe and beautiful art. The service was friendly, fresh and professional. My steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, and the duck fat fries were decadent. "

Bistro Sancerre is now open at 1725 Duke St., so stop in to try it for yourself.
