A new Indian spot has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called Masala House Indian Bistro, the fresh arrival is located at 5102 Baum Blvd. in Shadyside.

The new eatery offers a wide selection of menu items for both meat lovers and vegetarians. For starters, look for samosas or pakoras. For heartier meals, expect to find a variety of meat-based and vegetarian entrées marinated in spices, like tandoori chicken, shrimp or paneer cheese.

With a 4.5-star rating out of 12 reviews on Yelp so far, Masala House Indian Bistro has already made a good impression.

Yelper Anant C., who reviewed the spot on Dec. 22, wrote, "Tasty homestyle food. We ordered the pepper shrimp stir fry, which was amazing. The spice level can be adjusted. Goat karahi is the thing. The meat was tender and melts in your mouth."

And Correy D. added, "We started with the gobi manchurian, fried cauliflower florets in sauce, which was so good. Then I had the saag paneer. Perfect flavor and spice. Another perk is that they are kid-friendly and BYOB."

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Masala House Indian Bistro is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
