
Crime incidents in Washington saw an overall decrease last week, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 528 for the week of Dec. 24, down from 662 the week before.
Theft and robbery led the decrease in crime reports. Theft fell to 415 incidents last week, from 562 the week before. Robbery went from 41 to 30. Reports of robbery have continued to fall for the last two weeks.

There were 21 reported burglary incidents last week. That represents a decrease from 26 incidents the previous week. There was also one incident of vandalism, down from three the week before.
Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last week, reports of assault went from 29 to 49, and shootings rose from two to seven.

SpotCrime data also indicates that five others were made last week, up from two others the week before.
Considering the concentration of crime across the city, Anacostia, Capitol Hill, and Eckington had the most reported incidents last week. Anacostia and Capitol Hill were at the top of the list the previous week as well.
Fort Totten-Upper Northeast saw the largest decline. Crime reports in Capitol Hill also fell for a second week, and incidents in Downtown are down considerably as well.
As for when the most crimes were committed, Fridays, Thursdays and Mondays produced the most crime incidents last week. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Tuesdays, Sundays and Mondays, while incidents on Fridays went up. After midnight, evening and midday continue to see the most crime incidents.
