On Saturday, join Friends of Mount Auburn to celebrate Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's birthday. The party for the great American poet will feature a birthday cake and a walk to the Longfellow Lot on Indian Ridge Path for a wreath-laying ceremony.
Dr. Christopher Phillips, associate professor and assistant head of the English department at Lafayette College, will also be on hand to discuss Longfellow's strong bond with his younger brother Samuel, who served as Longfellow's secretary, curator and first biographer, and helped raise Longfellow's children after his wife's death.
