A new Tex-Mex restaurant has made its debut in the neighborhood. Operated by the same family — the Rosas — that owns the regional Guapo's chain, Rango's Tex-Mex & Grill is located in the former Paladar Kitchen & Rum Bar spot at 1934 Old Gallows Road.
There you'll find the expected selection of Tex-Mex platters, such as three tacos, two enchiladas or a large burrito, served alongside Mexican rice and refried beans. Ribs, chicken and shrimp are among the meats that get the grilled treatment. Fajitas, quesadillas and chile con carne are also among the newcomer's familiar Tex-Mex offerings.
Rango's also serves numerous chef specialties. Camarones Sinaloa, for example, features jumbo shrimp sautéed with white wine, Spanish onion, garlic and crushed red peppers. There's even a Peruvian lomo saltado, which is New York strip steak sautéed with tomatoes, red onions, scallions and peppers.
Finally, there are the house margaritas, in flavors from jalapeño to mango, served in sizes from a shot to 27 ounces.
Rango's Tex-Mex & Grill has already attracted fans thus far, with a 4-star rating out of 17 reviews on Yelp.
C G., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Feb. 18, wrote, "The staff is amazing — genuine, sincere and friendly, while being efficient at service and order accuracy. The tacos were not a hit, and the chicken was overall a little bland, but the seafood was perfect."
And C C. wrote, "I had the shrimp quesadilla, which was generously filled with plump shrimp, plenty of cheese but not overwhelming, fresh tortilla, and fresh pico, guacamole and sour cream. We also had the queso appetizer — huge serving with a delicious flavor."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Rango's Tex-Mex & Grill is open from 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday, and 11 a.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday.
