Want the inside word on Miami's most talked-about local spots?

We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to deduce which local businesses have been getting extra notice this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at Miami businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increase their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Read on to see which spots are extra cool this spring.

It's not the only trending outlier in the Latin American category: Latin Cafe 2000 has seen a 25.6 percent increase in reviews.

Located at 6789 Biscayne Blvd., La Placita offers croquetas de pollo (chicken croquettes), empanadillas de jueyes (blue land crab turnovers), chicharrones de pollo (made with chicken) and two mofongos—one with shrimp and the other with crab from Loiza.

It significantly outperformed the previous month by gaining 2.4 times more reviews than expected based on its past performance.

Open at 1250 S. Miami Ave., Suite 6 since September 2018, Brickell Kitchen offers favorites like fried chicken French toast; the Gallego omelette with chorizo, toast and house potatoes; a veggie wrap with scrambled eggs, kale, mushrooms, onions and red and green peppers; and sweets like guava flan, chocolate croissants and more.
