A new sushi bar has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 731 W. Lake St. in West Town, the new addition is called Mako.
Korean-born chef B.K. Park, who brought Arami to West Town and Juno to Lincoln Park, draws on 20 years of experience to launch his latest venture. With its 25-course menu, this sushi bar offers a modern take on the omakase experience, according to chicagomag.com.
Highlights include king crab with uni miso, A5 wagyu butter and potato chip, a mushroom and crab custard and an amazing Asian pear with ginger, passion fruit and shiso.
The fresh addition has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.
Steve A., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on March 19, wrote, "While the omakase was not cheap, it was well worth the price. The accompanying wine and sake pairing was masterful."
Yelper Colin A. added, “Great new spot from Chef Park! Great nigiri forward omakase with a few delicious specials from the kitchen (Duck was excellent).Incredibly fresh fish prepared simply. Wine and sake pairing was fantastic, one of the best I've had, and a great value! Beautiful and very warm ambiance.”
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Mako is open from 5:30 p.m.–10:30 p.m. on Tuesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
