We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to deduce which eateries have been on the tips of diners' tongues this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at Atlanta businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increase their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Local Green Atlanta

Open since 2017, this breakfast and brunch spot, which offers seafood, juice and smoothies and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Breakfast & Brunch" on Yelp.

Citywide, breakfast and brunch spots saw a median 1.8 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, but Local Green Atlanta saw a noteworthy 184.6 percent increase, maintaining a healthy 4.5-star rating throughout.

It's not the only trending outlier in the breakfast and brunch category: Spice House Cascade has seen a 12.2 percent increase in reviews.

Located at 19 Joseph E Lowery Blvd. NW in Ashby, Local Green Atlanta specializes in pescatarian, vegetarian and vegan menu selections.   

Gino's East - Atlanta

Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about Poncey-Highland's Gino's East - Atlanta, the bar and Italian spot, which offers pizza and more, is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.

While businesses categorized as "Bars" on Yelp saw a median 2.3 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, Gino's East - Atlanta bagged a 34 percent increase in new reviews within that time frame, with a slight downward trend from a four-star rating a month ago to its current 3.5 stars.

There's more that's trending on Atlanta's bar scene: Blue India has seen a 12.2 percent increase in reviews.

Poncey-Highland's Bully Boy is also making waves. Open for business at 828 Ralph McGill Blvd., the cocktail bar, which offers seafood, beer, wine and spirits and more, has seen a 42.9 percent bump in new reviews over the last month, compared to a median review increase of 3.1 percent for all businesses tagged "Cocktail Bars" on Yelp.

Bully Boy offers a wide variety of seafood including oysters and more on its menu. Over the past month, it's maintained a superior four-star rating among Yelpers.

Simon's Restaurant

Midtown's Simon's Restaurant is the city's buzziest traditional American spot by the numbers.

The traditional American, Southern and breakfast and brunch spot, which opened at 793 Juniper St. NE in 2017, increased its new review count by 12.3 percent over the past month, an outlier when compared to the median new review count of 2.1 percent for the Yelp category "American (Traditional)." It outperformed the previous month by gaining 3.5 times more reviews than expected based on past performance.

It's not the only trending outlier in the traditional American category: Atlanta Braves All Star Grill has seen a 4.9 percent increase in reviews.

Mission + Market

The Mission + Market is currently on the upswing in the seafood category on Yelp.

While businesses categorized as "Seafood" on Yelp saw a median 2.5 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, this New American spot, which offers seafood and sandwiches, increased its by 15.3 percent—and kept its rating consistent at four stars. Review counts increased by more than 250 percent on a month-to-month basis.

Open for business at 3550 Lenox Road NE, Suite #550, in Buckhead since 2017, the business offers seafood, steaks and more on its menu.
