A new upscale Cajun and Creole cocktail bar and restaurant has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 2305 University Ave. in North Park, the new addition is called Louisiana Purchase.
Crab-stuffed chicken skin, alligator andouille cheesecake, North Park gumbo yaya and more Nola-inspired offerings comprise this spot's menu. In addition to Southern cuisine, its bar also serves up specialty cocktails like the praline old fashioned, a medley of bourbon, pecan orgeat and orange and chicory bitters.
The restaurant also features a patio and indoor seating reminiscent of the luscious courtyards of the French Quarter.
The fresh addition has made a good impression thus far, with a 3.5-star rating out of 35 reviews on Yelp.
Yelper Valerie M., who reviewed the new spot on March 22, wrote, "Their cocktail menu is off the charts. The food is even better. Great place to bring a group and hang out over the weekend or a week night for dinner and cocktails. Even just to pop by, sit at the bar and have a drink and chat with one of the bartenders."
Head on over to check it out: Louisiana Purchase is open from 4 p.m.–midnight on Wednesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday and Tuesday.)
