"The Transition of Doodle Pequeño"

First up, check out this free performance featuring a cast of young performers in "The Transition of Doodle Pequeño" to be performed at the Mexican Heritage Plaza on Thursday. National Theatre Live: "The Tragedy of King Richard the Second"

Next, the Hammer Theatre Center will host a live simulcast of "The Tragedy of King Richard the Second" from the National Theatre in London. As part of National Theatre Live, Simon Russell Beale returns to the stage to portray the "selfish, ill-equipped king in danger of losing his crown," write the organizers.

"Mamma Mia"

Then, local performers will take the stage to celebrate the music of ABBA in this production of "Mamma Mia," where "you will enjoy every minute of ... this adventure trying to figure out who Sophie's father is," write the organizers. To be performed at the Evergreen Valley College Theater, this will be the San Jose Theater's inaugural season.

24-Hour Theater Festival

Finally, check out new works by an array of local performers at the 24-Hour Theater Festival. Participating artists will meet for the first time on the Friday before the show and spend the next 24-hours writing and improvising a script, which will ultimately be performed live on Saturday at the Hal Todd Theatre.
