We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to deduce which local businesses have been in the limelight this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at Atlanta businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increase their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

The Hive Buckhead

This bar, music venue and breakfast and brunch spot is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Breakfast & Brunch" on Yelp.

Citywide, breakfast and brunch spots saw a median 2.1 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, but The hive buckhead saw an 80 percent increase, with an upward trend from a two-star rating a month ago to three stars today.

It's not the only trending outlier in the breakfast and brunch category: Spice House Cascade has seen an 8.6 percent increase in reviews.

While businesses categorized as "Bars" on Yelp saw a median 2.6 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, Adalina bagged a 50 percent increase in new reviews within that time frame, maintaining a superior 4.5-star rating. It significantly outperformed the previous month by gaining 5.0 times more reviews than expected based on its past performance.

There's more that's trending on Atlanta's bar scene: Estrella has seen a 34.5 percent increase in reviews.

Flower Child offers vegan, vegetarian, organic and gluten-free fare on its menu. Over the past month, it's seen its Yelp rating tick down from 4.5 stars to four stars.

South City Kitchen Buckhead

South City Kitchen Buckhead is the city's buzziest Southern spot by the numbers.

The well-established Southern eatery, situated at 3350 Peachtree Road NE, increased its new review count by 4.5 percent over the past month, an outlier when compared to the median new review count of 1.8 percent for the Yelp category "Southern."

South City Kitchen Buckhead offers modern Southern cuisine including dishes such as shrimp and grits on its menu. It maintains a healthy 4.5-star rating on Yelp.
