Bleeding Control Basic Course. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes. Thus, it is critically important to quickly stop blood loss. Those nearest to someone with a bleeding injury can make a life-saving difference, if they are adequately trained to provide first care to the injured person. This course will teach the importance of stopping the bleed. Participants will learn how to identify the source of bleeding, look for life-threatening injuries, and learn basic life-saving interventions including bleeding control with direct pressure, bleeding control with gauze packs, packing a wound, and bleeding control with a tourniquet.
