Morning Glory brings breakfast and brunch fare to Little ItalyPhoto: Jennie Q./Yelp

If you've got breakfast and brunch on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. Located at 550 W. Date St., Suite C in Little Italy, the new addition is called Morning Glory.

This new business specializes in breakfast and brunch fare with a global flair, with menu items ranging from the English Brekkie, consisting of eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, beans, hashbrowns and fried bread to a traditional German pancake to Shakshuka, a dish of baked eggs and cumin out of Israel.

Morning Glory also offers afternoon tea service every day from noon to 3 p.m. featuring smoked fish, deviled eggs, finger sandwiches, macarons and petite pastries. Of course, plenty of hot and cold beverages are available to round out your meal, from cold brew coffee to a London Fog latte to orange and vanilla hot chocolate. More interested in an alcoholic beverage with your brunch? The cocktail menu offers a wide variety of tasty options as well.

The San Diego Eater reported, "There is no more extravagant and intricate backdrop for an omelet than the Morning Glory design from Paul Basile and team at BASILE Studio. Wrapped in gleaming shingles of polished copper, the second-level space has a set of 24 articulated windows that will move and undulate throughout the day and a floor of custom pink and black terrazzo."

With a four-star rating out of 33 reviews on Yelp so far, the newcomer has been a hit in the area.

McMadsen, who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 1, raved, "The most fun I have had eating brunch. Ever. What an experience! Cocktails: Old Fashioned was amazing, also had the Michelada and a mojito. Food: Winner for us was the chorizo and eggs. The fried rice was awesome too."

Yelper Jack M. added, "Being one of the only eateries to offer souffle pancakes in San Diego, I say hold on to your britches because foodies and people who just love food are going to be lining up for some."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Morning Glory is open from 7 a.m.–3 p.m. daily.
