Castro crime: Dolores Park shooting, shoplifter threatens staff with dog, cyclist assaults man, more  Photo: Alan Cleaver/Flickr

It's time for another look at notable crimes reported in the Castro since our last roundup. All details are from official SFPD reports, unless otherwise noted.

Early morning assault, robbery

Early on June 4 at 2:00 a.m., a 36-year-old man was near Market and Castro  streets when a male suspect, 27, pushed him to the ground, stealing the victim's necklace and keys. The suspect fled on foot, and the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Dolores carjacking

Later on June 4, at 10:37 p.m., a 49-year-old man was sitting in his parked car near Dolores and 14th streets when a male suspect, 30, got into the car, attacked the driver, and drove away with the stolen vehicle.

The car was later recovered, but the suspect was not apprehended. The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cyclist assaults pedestrian

On May 30 at 6:10 p.m., a 55-year-old man was near Market and Castro streets when an unknown male suspect approached him on a bicycle.

The suspect then pushed the victim into the street, causing him to fall to the ground. The cyclist fled the scene, and the victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Shoplifter threatens victim with dog attack

On May 28 at 11:07 a.m., a 50-year-old man entered a store near Market and Church streets with his dog in tow. When a 35-year-old man saw the suspect stealing cosmetic items from a display, he confronted him and told him to put the items back. The shoplifter then threatened the younger man with his dog before leaving the store with the stolen items. He was not apprehended.

Market Street fire

On May 27 at 10:48 a.m., an unknown suspect started a fire with cardboard near Market and Dolores. The suspect fled the scene, and the fire department responded, extinguishing the fire. No one was injured, but a door sustained minor damage.

Dolores Park shooting sends man to the hospital

On May 26 at 5:01 p.m., a 21-year-old man was at Dolores Park when he was confronted by two unknown suspects. One of the suspects then shot him with a handgun. Police found the victim at Mission Playground, and transported him to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There's no word on whether the suspects were arrested.

Hotel fire leads to arrest

On May 24 at 5:46 a.m., an 18-year-old man staying at a hotel near Market and Church lit his room on fire, then fled the scene. The fire department extinguished the blaze, and while investigators were on scene investigating the cause of the fire, the suspect returned to the area and was arrested. No significant damage was reported.

Muni assault, robbery

Later on May 24, at 9:20 a.m., a 44-year-old woman was inside a Muni vehicle near Fillmore and Duboce when two male suspects approached her. One suspect assaulted the victim, while the other stole her credit cards, phone, and money before fleeing.
