We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to uncover which local businesses have been most discussed this month.
To find out who made the list, we looked at Dallas businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increased their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Velvet Taco

Open since 2018, this New American breakfast and brunch locale, which serves tacos and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Breakfast & Brunch" on Yelp.
Citywide, breakfast and brunch spots saw a median 3.1% increase in new reviews over the past month, but Velvet Taco saw a 12.1% increase, maintaining a solid four-star rating throughout. Moreover, on a month-to-month basis Velvet Taco's review count increased by more than 280%.

JINYA Ramen Bar features an extensive menu of long-simmered noodle soups, as well as a high-end cocktail bar. Over the past month, it's seen its Yelp rating tick down from 4.5 stars to four stars.
Civil Pour

Northeast Dallas' Civil Pour is the city's buzziest sandwich shop by the numbers.
The beer bar and cafe, which offers sandwiches, coffee and tea as well as beer on tap, and opened at 8061 Walnut Hill Lane, Suite 924 in 2018, increased its new review count by 6.5% over the past month, an outlier when compared to the median new review count of 2.6% for the Yelp category "Sandwiches." It outperformed the previous month by gaining 2.2 times more reviews than expected based on past performance.
Civil Pour is known for offering hard-to-find beers on tap and thoughtfully curated coffee, which uses a signature pour-over brewing method only found in northern Texas.
