American singer/songwriter Josh Ritter and The Royal City Band are in town for one night only at the Fox Theater. Ritter's influences include legends like Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. His 10th album, "Fever Breaks," came out in April.

'Starmites' at The Flight Deck

A new production of 1980 musical "Starmites" premieres at The Flight Deck this weekend. Based on the book by Stuart Ross and Barry Keating, it follows a shy teenage girl who escapes into the science fiction world of her imagination. The original 1989 Broadway production received six Tony Award nominations; this restaging comes from Bay Area Zeta Players, a completely student-run theatre company based in Oakland.

A State of Trance Festival

Though it's toured the globe since 2012, A State of Trance, which describes itself as "the largest trance network in the world," is coming to the Bay Area for the first time. Armin van Buuren will curate a night full of DJs, dancing and intense visuals, featuring Aly & Fila, Fatum, MaRLo, NWYR, and Ruben De Ronde x Rodg.

Movies at The New Parkway Theater

The forecast this weekend is cool and overcast, making it the perfect time to catch a flick. The New Parkway has several special movie showings this Sunday, providing a little something for everyone. "Bilal: A New Breed Of Hero," a 2015 animated action/adventure feature from Dubai, plays at 12:15 p.m.; the original 1984 "Ghostbusters" plays at 2:30 p.m., and Bay Area drone/doom collective Sleepbomb will perform a live score to classic silent film "Metropolis" at 3:30 p.m.
