Want the intel on San Diego's most talked-about local spots?

We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to analyze which local businesses have been getting a notable increase in attention this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at San Diego businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increased their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Read on to see which spots are getting plenty of attention right now.

Open since last spring, this taco spot is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Tacos" on Yelp.

Citywide, taco spots saw a median 2.2% increase in new reviews over the past month, but Crack Taco Shop saw a remarkable 228.1% increase, with a slight downward trend from a 4.5-star rating a month ago to four stars today.

Located at 4242 Camino Del Rio North, Suite 28 (between Ward Rd and Caminito Pintoresco) in Grantville, Crack Taco Shop's specialty is its use of tri-tip steak from Cardiff Seaside Market. On the menu, look for breakfast burritos, quesadillas and bowls with fillings like pollo asada, Baja shrimp and grilled cactus.
