Want the intel on Phoenix's buzziest local spots?

We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to analyze which restaurants have been getting extra notice this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at Phoenix businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increased their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Read on to see which spots have the momentum heading into back-to-school season.

Camelback East's Arriba Mexican Grill is the city's buzziest Mexican spot by the numbers.

The popular cocktail bar and Mexican and breakfast and brunch spot, which opened at 1812 E. Camelback Road in 2007, increased its new review count by 3.3 percent over the past month, an outlier when compared to the median new review count of 2.3 percent for the Yelp category "Mexican."
