Le Monde French Immersion Public Charter School's overall rating improved the most among similar schools in Portland, rising from a B+ to an A-, according to data from Niche.

For the 2019-2020 school year, the school, located at 2044 E. Burnside, enrolls 277 students. Niche graded the school an A for academics (on an A-D scale).

The overall ranking comes from Niche's proprietary algorithms. A school's ranking might change due to many factors, including the relative rankings of similar schools and whether a school gained or lost peers due to openings or closings. Other numbers come from current public data from the U.S. government.

Academically, 95% of Le Monde French Immersion Public Charter School's students scored as proficient or above in math, and 82% did so in reading. That's compared to city averages of 65% in math and 78% in reading.

It's not the only school that's climbed Niche's rankings this year. Portland Arthur Academy Charter School saw its overall rating go from a B to a B+. The school is located at 7507 S.E. Yamhill St. and is a bit smaller, currently serving 165 students.

Niche graded Portland Arthur Academy Charter School an A- for academics on an A-D scale. The school's latest math proficiency was at 57%, and reading proficiency was 77%.

Emerson School also saw improvement in its overall rating, from B+ to A-. The school is located at 105 N.W. Park Ave. and has 144 students currently enrolled.

Niche graded Emerson School an A- for academics on an A-D scale. Its latest math proficiency was at 62%, and reading proficiency was 72%.

While some charter elementary schools in Portland are moving up the ranks, others are consistently top-rated overall, including:

  • Arthur Academy, with an overall rating of A-.
  • Opal Charter School - Portland Children's Museum, with a B+ rating overall.
