Unsure where Phoenix's insiders are eating and drinking? It's easy to spot lines out the door, but some underlying trends are harder to see.
We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to uncover which restaurants have been getting a noteworthy uptick in attention this month.
To find out who made the list, we looked at Phoenix businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increased their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.
Read on to see which spots are closing out the summer strong.
The Bread and Honey House

Open since May, this cafe that serves breakfast and lunch is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Breakfast & Brunch" on Yelp.
Citywide, breakfast and brunch eateries saw a median 1.8% increase in new reviews over the past month, but The Bread and Honey House saw an 88% increase, with a slight upward trend from a 4.5-star rating a month ago to five stars today.
Located at 4700 E. Van Buren St. in Camelback East, The Bread and Honey House offers a build-your-own breakfast burrito option, avocado toast and breakfast sandwiches in the morning. At lunchtime, menu choices include fish tacos, burgers and sandwiches.
Hush Public House

Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about Paradise Valley's Hush Public House, the cocktail bar and New American spot is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.
While businesses categorized as "American (New)" on Yelp saw a median 1.4% increase in new reviews over the past month, Hush Public House bagged a 15.9% increase in new reviews within that timeframe, maintaining an impressive five-star rating.
There's more that's trending on Phoenix's New American scene: FEZ has seen a 2.3% increase in reviews.
Open since early this year at 14202 N. Scottsdale Road, Suite 167, Hush Public House offers upscale fare, including crab hush puppies, halibut crudo, pan-seared scallops and New York strip steak.

Encanto's Tacos Huicho is also making waves. Open since 2013 at 1941 E. Oak St., the well-established Mexican spot has seen a 5.2% bump in new reviews over the last month, compared to a median review increase of 2.3% for all businesses tagged "Mexican" on Yelp. Moreover, on a month-to-month basis Tacos Huicho's review count increased by more than 200%.
