A new chicken shop and bar, which offers in barbecue, sandwiches and more, has made its debut in the neighborhood. The fresh arrival, called The Cookshack, can be found at 500 University Drive.
The Cookshack specializes in fried chicken and ribs with spice, but leave it up to customers to decide their preferred heat level. Besides chicken and ribs, the menu features a variety of salads, desserts, libations and classic sides such as macaroni and cheese, sweet potato fries, coleslaw and Texas caviar.
The new restaurant has already attracted fans thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 14 reviews on Yelp.
Imran K., who was the first Yelper to review the newcomer on August 26, wrote, "We tried the ribs (Texas Hot), chicken tenders, kale salad and Texas caviar. The ribs were tender and perfectly spicy. The chicken had a nice breading and came with some choice of dipping sauce."
And Tanner K. wrote, "We got swirl margaritas and a full rack of ribs with sweet potato fries. The ribs were incredible. Melt-in-your-mouth kind of ribs. You get to choose your heat level. We got medium, and it was a good level of heat."
Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. The Cookshack is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. daily.
