A new dance school has opened in the neighborhood. Golden State Ballet & Pilates is at 6338 Riverdale St., Grantville.
The 6,000-square-foot dance studio and workout spot offers lessons in classical ballet, Pilates apparatus, contemporary dance, hip-hop and arco. The facility is co-owned and co-directed by professional dancers Raul Salamanca and Cindy Huang Salamanca.
Golden State Ballet & Pilates has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.
Sofia N., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Sept. 28, wrote, "Raul and Cindy are warm, inviting and see each dancer for their own strengths. They do a ton of hands-on corrections and spend time with each individual kid whether they are the best in the class or not. We loved that they do Pilates, which is essential for a well-rounded, balanced dancer."
And Jeana L. wrote, "Cindy and Raul are both amazing teachers who inspire young dancers to love dancing and to work hard. They truly care about the dancers as a whole person and spend time to mentor and guide."
