New Louisville Mediterranean spot The Charcoal Restaurant opens its doorsPhoto: The Charcoal Restaurant/Yelp

A new Mediterranean spot has debuted in the neighborhood. Located at 2805 N. Hurstbourne Parkway, the new addition is called The Charcoal Restaurant.

According to its Facebook page, "Staying true to its roots in Jerusalem, the Charcoal Kitchen brings you an authentic Mediterranean charcoal chicken, served with a staple garlic sauce."

On the menu, expect to find half and whole chicken meals, a falafel plate and falafel and chicken shawarma sandwiches. The sides include hummus, baba ganoush, a tahini salad and more. Make sure to save room for the baklava cheesecake.

The new addition has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.

Carmen S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Oct. 19, wrote, “No-frills, deliciously seasoned, moist roasted chicken. Did I say it is clean halal chicken? My friends, this is one of the best roasted chickens I've ever put in my mouth.”

And Noor E. wrote, "It's an awesome restaurant. The chicken was excellent and juicy and tasted great, specially with their garlic sauce. The falafel was exceptional."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: The business is open from 11 a.m.–8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; 4–8 p.m. on Friday; and noon–6 p.m. on Sunday.
