The weekend in Oakland starts on Halloween — Head over to Starline Social Club for a Halloween New Years event or plan to attend 27 Years! In Oakland, starting on Thursday with performances through the weekend. At Jack London Square on Saturday, its free to browse at Patchwork Show Modern Makers Festival. Finally, on Saturday night check out Lucinda Williams and her band Buick 6 at Fox Theater. 

Starline Social Club presents Halloween New Years

Attend a spooky event on Halloween night at Starline Social Club in Oakland. Dress-up in your favorite costume for this "mega party" and win cash prizes for best costumes. There will be lots of candy, plus your favorite music including live artists playing the Beastie Boys, Madonna, Nirvana and more. At midnight there will be a pumpkin drop full of goodies.

When: Thursday, October 31, 7 p.m.

27 Years! In Oakland by Savage Jazz Dance Company

27 Years! In Oakland is a production to highlight the town and all its complexities. The production "spotlights the streets, the life, the good, the bad, the ugly, the art, the soul, the fight for, and the love for Oakland presented in dance," according to the show's organizers.

The show is entirely choreographed by Reginald Ray-Savage and presented by performers and students of the Savage Jazz Dance Company.

When: Thursday - Sunday, October 31 - November 3

Where: Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts Theatre, 1428 Alice St.

Patchwork Show Modern Markers Festival

Patchwork Show in Oakland at Jack London Square is free and showcases over 150 local makers. Expect "Do It Yourself" (DIY) crafts and lots of music.  Vendors include purveyors of clothing, jewelry, home goods, pet gear and more. This is a family friendly and dog friendly event.

Lucinda Williams and Buick 6: Car Wheels On A Gravel Road

Lucinda Williams and her band Buick 6 will perform live for one night only at Fox Theater, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Williams' seminal album, Car Wheels On A Gravel Road. She will perform the album in its entirety, followed by a second set of songs spanning her whole career.

Williams is a three time Grammy Award winning country music artist.  She infuses her music with a little rock and folk. Listen to her music on her website.
