Oakland weekend: Turkey Trot, comedian D.L. Hughley, Dunsmuir Hellman Estate Holiday events, more

Thanksgiving weekend is a time for family and friends to gather, but if you get a little cabin fever, Hoodline has a number of events to get you out and about.

This weekend, there's the Oakland Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, a hip-hop concert on Friday, comedian D.L. Hughley on Saturday and three holiday events at Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate on Sunday.

Want to walk or run for a cause on Thanksgiving Day in Oakland? The 3rd Annual Oakland Turkey Trot is your chance. Gather your family and friends before you feast and head over to the event. Online registration is required prior to the races, and cost varies based on the events you plan to participate in. There is a 5k, Youth 5k, VIP 5k and the Stomper's Stomp. Donations benefit Alameda County Community Food Bank and Oakland Education Fund's A-Z Program.

When: Thursday, Nov. 28, 8:30 a.m.

ScHoolboy Q at Fox Theater

Hip-hoppers won't want to miss this concert the day after Thanksgiving: ScHoolboy Q will take the stage at Fox Theater on Friday. The L.A.-based, Grammy-nominated rapper is one part of supergroup Black Hippy, along with label mate Kendrick Lamar. Listen to his music on his website.

D.L. Hughley Unplugged at Paramount Theater

Comedian, actor and talk show host D.L. Hughley has had his share of success, and through it all, he's always returned to stand-up comedy. In the past he hosted a show on CNN, was a correspondent for Jay Leno, starred in his own sitcom, and much more. This Saturday night, catch Hughley live on stage in Oakland.

When: Saturday, Nov. 30, 8 p.m.

Three Holiday Events at Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate

The Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate has three holiday events lined up for the next several Sundays. The holiday extravaganza includes: Holiday High Teas, Santa's Brunch, and Walk Through Wonderland. The morning high tea on December 1 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.  is sold out, but tickets are still available to the afternoon tea from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday Dec. 1. If you miss high tea, you can still get tickets to Santa's Brunch and Walk Through Wonderland (each event ticket sold separately, no bundle rates).
