New Greek spot Avli debuts in River NorthPhoto: Naywri W./Yelp

If you've got Greek on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. The newcomer to River North, called Avli, is located at 702 N. Wells St.

Avli offers such traditional spreads as smoked taramosalata (cod roe, lemon, onions, bread and spices), melitzanosalata (roasted eggplant, garlic, evoo, coriander and herbs) and tirokafteri (spicy feta and roasted red pepper); each is served with an order of pita bread. Larger dishes include beef short ribs, pan-seared lavraki and lamb chops.

Craving a sweet treat? Dig into caramel baklava ice cream or chocolate olive oil cake.

Avli has already attracted fans thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Ken R. wrote, "Service was wonderful, decor [was] great and everything I tasted I enjoyed. Hip and casual decor, and the downstairs had a great vibe. Highly recommend."

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Avli is open from 5–11 p.m. daily.
