The Space Lady

From the event description:

Come hear cosmic outsider music from a nomadic musical legend. Finding a dilapidated, old accordion in a junk store in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, turned Susan Dietrich's life around. The accordion was eventually retired in favor of the very first battery keyboard released on the American market, a Casiotone MT-40. But with husband Joel's previous experience playing in rock bands, they enhanced the Casio's sound by plugging it into a phase-shifter. They also mic-ed Susan's voice through an echo unit, created a light show by wiring her tip box with twinkling lights, and finally, crowned her with a winged helmet complete with a blinking red ball on top. Ages 21 and over only.

Love Without Borders Featuring Illegal Son and Friends

From the event description:

Illegal Son is an interpretation of the Undocumented way of life through sound and music. Day to day there is no promise of a tomorrow, there is only hope and fear—the revelry of another day is what I hope for. Processing life with the umbrella of being Undocumented consists of improvisation, constant back and forth of wondering what’s next; the music, the sounds, and ear of Illegal Son is improvisation. It’s insecure, it’s unstable, but hopeful.

When: Thursday, Jan. 9, 9 p.m.-Friday, Jan. 10, 1 a.m.
Where: Mississippi Studios, 3939 N. Mississippi Ave.
Price: $12
