A contemporary Mexican spot has opened in Carmel Valley. Called Tocaya Organica, it's at 3725 Paseo Place, Suite 1070.

The restaurant, a member of a regional chain, features bowls, burritos, salads, tacos and quesadillas made with organic produce, hormone-free meat and sustainable seafood.

The menu also features a variety of desserts, including sweet corn tamales, churro waffle bites and fruit bowls.

With a 4.5-star rating out of 19 reviews on Yelp so far, the new addition has already made a good impression.

Michelle H., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Dec. 30, wrote, "I really enjoyed this restaurant. They offer a bunch of teas and mixed lemonades as well, which all seem to be decent flavors. I tried the strawberry basil and it wasn't too sweet, which was perfect. All in all, a good lunch staple."

And Michael B. added, "Pretty cool. It's stand-in-line to order and then they bring it to your table. The decor is certainly sparkling and refreshing. They should do well with their twist on Mexican cuisine."

Head on over to check it out: Tocaya Organica is open from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
