Oakland weekend: Golden Globes watch party, PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour, live jazz, more

Along with a new year and a new decade comes a new list of events in Oakland to keep you entertained.

Start the weekend by attending a live jazz concert at Original Pattern Brewery Co. If you're looking for some action, head over to Oakland Metro Operahouse for Hoodslam: SCHISM 20/20.  For even more adrenaline-pumping excitement, plan on seeing Professional Bull Riders (PBR) at Oracle Arena. Last but not least, on Sunday, watch the 77th Golden Globes at The New Parkway Theater. 

Friday Night Jazz at Original Pattern Brewing Co.

If you like jazz music and local brews, head over to Original Pattern Brewery Co. in Oakland on Friday night. Three hours of music, beer and food should get your weekend off to the right start. The Nick Culp Quartet will keep you entertained, and the brewery has a full kitchen open from 5-9 p.m.

Hoodslam at Oakland Metro Operahouse

Do you like pro wrestling? Come see it live, raw and rated R. Hoodslam: SCHISM 20/20 takes over Oakland Metro Operahouse on Friday, celebrating 10 years of underground wrestling mayhem. There’s a full bar, and the event is 21 and over.

PBR: Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour

Professional Bull Riders (PBR) brings the Velocity Tour to Oracle Arena this weekend. The Velocity Tour features up-and-coming bull riders competing for a spot in the PBR World Finals. This action-packed sporting event is for all ages, and is family friendly. Head over to Oracle Arena for the thrilling spectacle of bull riders hanging on for dear life, set to high-energy sound and special effects.

When: Saturday, January 4, 6 p.m.
