Oakland weekend: Oakland A's Fan Fest, beer crawl, White Elephant preview sale, more

With a mix of sunshine and rain in the forecast, we've chosen some weekend events that are both indoor and outdoor, to ensure you stay dry. Whether you want to while away your Saturday on a cross-town beer crawl, meet this year's Oakland A's lineup or go hard in a gaming competition, there's something fun for you in Oakland this weekend.

G7: Genesis Gaming

Calling all gamers: this tournament is sure to entertain, whether you want to show off your skills or watch some of the best gamers around compete for the grand prize. Competitions will be held across several top titles, including three different editions of Super Smash Bros.; Splatoon 2; and Rivals of Aether. For a break from the competition, vendors and a free-play arcade are also available.

When: Friday, January 26 - Sunday, January 28, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Where: Oakland Convention Center, 550 10th St. & Paramount Theater, 2025 Broadway

Price: $35-55. Online registration is closed, with tickets only available on-site

Oakland Beer Crawl

Want to grab some weekend drinks with friends? Set off on the Oakland Beer Crawl, wending your way through five local breweries and enjoying live music at each stop. The event centers on Jack London Square, with stops at breweries like Old Kan, Original Pattern and Ghost Town.

Shuttle vans running on a loop will safely transport you from point to point at your own pace, and while beer isn't included in the ticket price, many of the participating venues will offer discounted brews.

When:  Saturday, January 25, 4 - 9 p.m.

Where: Various locations around Jack London Square

Price: $20 general admission

2020 A's Fan Fest

Bring the family to celebrate the Oakland A's at their annual Fan Fest. With baseball season just a couple of months away, it's a chance to preview the 2020 team, get autographs, and purchase A's memorabilia.

Special kids' activities, like face-painting and photos with A's mascot Stomper, are part of the fun, along with food trucks. FYI: the event is outdoors and will take place rain or shine, despite showers forecast for Saturday afternoon.

When: Saturday, January 25, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

White Elephant Preview Sale

Every year, the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) puts on this massive event for "serious shoppers" of secondhand treasures. But you can jump the line at this weekend's preview sale, which is stocked with vintage goodies like clothing, jewelry, art, sports equipment, furniture, household items and more. All proceeds benefit the museum.

When: Sunday, January 26, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Where: 333 Lancaster St.
