Oakland weekend: Lunar New Year, Moonlight Comedy, WWE Super Show and Silversun Pickups

It's the Lunar New Year this weekend, and you can celebrate in Oakland this weekend with an Asian culture festival at OMCA, or soak up the full moon at a comedy show at Uptown. If staying inside is more your thing, catch a pro wrestling showcase at Oakland Arena, or head over to Fox Theater for a concert. 

Moonlight Comedy at Uptown Nightclub

Moonlight Comedy, hosted by Uptown Nightclub every first Friday, is a night of laughs under the stars. The monthly event features Bay Area locals and touring comedians. Many featured performers have appeared on Comedy Central, HBO, Viceland and more.

WWE Road to WrestleMania Super Show

Lunar New Year Community Celebration

The year of the rat is here, and the Oakland Museum of California is hosting its 19th annual Lunar New Year event, celebrating the diverse array of Asian cultures represented across the Bay Area. Attendees can expect entertainment including dragon dancing, magic tricks, a petting zoo, Taekwondo demonstrations, Bhutanese dances, Japanese Taiko, Asian cuisine from a variety of outlets and more.

When: Saturday - Sunday , February 8 - February 9, 12 - 4:30 p.m.

Silversun Pickups at Fox Theater

Out of Los Angeles, alternative rock band Silversun Pickups performs this Saturday at Fox Theater in Oakland. The band, which formed in 2000 and has 10 Billboard Top 20 songs under its belt, released their fifth full-length album Widow's Weeds in 2019. Take a listen to their music here.
