Want to adopt a pet? Here are 3 lovable pups to adopt now in OaklandPhotos: Petfinder

Interested in adopting a pet — or just taking a peek at some cuddly canines up for adoption? There are dozens of great dogs up for adoption at animal shelters in and around Oakland.

Animal shelters and pet rescue groups work hard to care for unhoused pets and connect them to loving homes. Hoodline used data from Petfinder to power this roundup of dogs currently available for adoption.

Nikki, shepherd and Labrador retriever mix

Nikki is a male shepherd and Labrador retriever mix being kept at Bella Vita Rescue.

Nikki will get along great with other dogs. He has been vaccinated and neutered. He's mastered his house-training etiquette.

Notes from Nikki's caretakers:

Nikki is a lab/shepard mix but he is only about 30 pounds. He's a very sweet boy that loves to play with other dogs and people. He is potty and leash trained — he even knows how to use a dog door. He's about a year old and is pretty small for his breed.

Babe, Cardigan Welsh corgi and Australian shepherd mix

Babe is a female Cardigan Welsh corgi and Australian shepherd mix being kept at Bella Vita Rescue.

Babe is happy to keep company with other dogs. She's been vaccinated and spayed. She has mastered her house-training etiquette.

From Babe's current caretaker:

Babe is a very sweet and quite little girl and loves people and other dogs. Even though she's a little shy, she loves getting pets from anyone and everyone. She is leash and potty trained. Since she is such a quiet girl she'd be a great apartment dog.

Vegas, American Bully

Vegas is a darling male American Bully dog in the care of California Pit Bull Rescue.

Vegas is nothing if not a family dog, and children will love him. He is looking for a cat-free family. He is already house-trained. Vegas is neutered, and he has had all his shots.

Notes from Vegas' caretakers:

Meet Vegas, the incredibly affectionate muscle muffin who has spent most of his life living in a backyard. While his general demeanor is very jovial, he is not socialized with other dogs and so we are not sure if he would do well living with them. He does well when left alone and is house trained. He is a great listener and wants nothing more to curl up and rest his head on you.
