The Bay Area's shelter-in-place order has brought countless events usually held as in-person gatherings online. We're aiming to support local businesses in San Francisco and Oakland by highlighting five of these events each day.

A Day in the District: Joseph Omran of Le Beau Market

Danny Sauter, who's running for District 3 Supervisor this fall, is hosting a series of livestreamed chats with major players in the neighborhood. In this edition, Joseph Omran, owner of Nob Hill's Le Beau Market, will discuss adapting to increased demand for groceries and new safety standards in the COVID-19 crisis. Viewers can also participate in a Q&A.

Quarantine For a Cause Festival

Digital music publication Earmilk and SF-based events venue 1015 Folsom are teaming up for this three-day livestream music festival, with proceeds benefiting laid-off hospitality industry workers. The lineup includes titans of dance music like Paul Van Dyk, Shlomo, Sofi Tukker and Mr. Carmack, alongside Bay Area favorites LP Giobbi, DJ Dials, an-ten-nae, Christina T, Wily, and more.

The Future of Museums, Zoos, and Aquariums

This talk will feature George Jacob, CEO of Bay.org and The Aquarium of the Bay, discussing the future of aquariums, zoos, and museums in the wake of COVID-19. Are museums' models outdated? What will happen to their physical spaces? In the wake of Netflix's "Tiger King," are people rethinking animals in captivity? Join in for the discussion.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band concert

To jazz up your quarantine routine, SFJAZZ is hosting weekly Friday livestreams of past concerts. This week's edition, filmed on August 10, 2019, features New Orleans' famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band, with Cuban singer-songwriter Eme Alfonso appearing as a special guest.
