The Bay Area's shelter-in-place order has brought countless events usually held as in-person gatherings online. We're aiming to support local businesses in San Francisco and Oakland by highlighting five of these events each day.

Here's your SF events calendar for Monday, April 13. Learn about COVID-19 from UCSF scientists, hear about the role city parks play during the crisis or catch a movie about the mountain running community  — all from the comfort of your couch.

COVID-19 Epidemiology Grand Rounds

Understanding and managing the COVID-19 pandemic requires up-to-date knowledge on the epidemiology of the disease. Start the week with UCSF's Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics as they discuss key issues like racial and age disparities in victims, how the U.S. can undertake contact tracing, the best ways to model future cases, and more.

How to Get Around San Francisco (Safely) During COVID-19

Despite the shelter-in-place, many of us still need get to work, buy groceries, access medical care or to provide help to others. But with transportation changing every day and many Muni and BART options shutting down, it can be hard to figure out the best and safest way to travel.

In this talk, the Community Living Campaign's Cathy DeLuca and SF Paratransit's Natasha Opfell will share the latest information about all the city's transportation options, including Muni, paratransit, driving, taxis and Uber or Lyft. They'll take questions as well.

'Coming Home' Online Release and Q&A

The new documentary short "Coming Home" follows Irish mountain runner Paddy O'Leary as he reconnects with his home country and attempts the Wicklow Round — a 115-kilometer, self-navigated running challenge through the Wicklow Mountains.

After a well-received festival run, the film is set to be released on Facebook at 8 a.m. on Monday. That afternoon, viewers can chat with the filmmakers and ask questions on Instagram.

Talk with SF Rec & Park's Phil Ginsburg

In this talk, Phil Ginsburg, the general manager of the SF Recreation & Parks Department, will discuss how shelter-in-place is affecting the city's parks. With most forms of recreation not allowed, how should we most responsibly utilize the parks? Does closing in-park vehicular roads make sense? What's the new plan for Golden Gate Park's 150th-anniversary Ferris wheel? Join in and ask questions.

Native Practices and Prayers to Navigate the Pandemic

For centuries, Native Americans have remained resilient in the face of devastating pandemics. This ceremonial gathering will feature sacred songs and prayers to cultivate fearlessness in the face of uncertainty, tips on Native practices to maintain health, and a general view of the current circumstances from an indigenous perspective.
