San Francisco Sustainable Fashion Week Conference

San Francisco Sustainable Fashion Week's annual conference is moving online for 2020. Those interested in how to create and find environmentally friendly fashion can tune in via Zoom. Speakers will include journalist Ruby Veridiano; Slow Fashion World founder and entrepreneur Mariel Jumpa; and Uruguyan designer Valentina Suarez.

Opening the Chest: Livestream Workshop

Intermediate and advanced yoga students are invited to this workshop focused on Iyengar techniques for lifting and expanding the chest, upper spine, ribs and shoulder girdle. Expect to try out a variety of both supported and unsupported poses, with the help of props like blocks, bolsters, chairs and blankets.

Online Yosakoi Dance Workshop

Quarantine getting you down? Learn to dance in the lively, energetic yosakoi style, which was invented in Japan in the 1950s. Japantown-based troupe Ito Yosakoi will host the workshop, which is targeted at beginners. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and have a bottle of water on hand as they learn the choreographed movements.

Hip-Hop to Hamilton: Making Art Work

The Asian Art Museum and the SFUSD are bringing together Khafre James, executive director of Hip Hop for Change, and Lily Ling, music director and conductor for the North American tour of "Hamilton," for a discussion on art in the post-COVID-19 world. They'll talk about the current challenges faced by the arts community and students can sustain their passion for the arts during these difficult times.

Tiny Porch Concert

In a homegrown answer to NPR's "Tiny Desk Concerts," married acoustic duo Brand New Heartache is hosting a live-streamed mini-concert from their porch. The concert is being held as a fundraiser for Oakland restaurant The Lede, which has been providing free takeout meals for nonprofits like Family Bridges, Roots Community Health Clinic, Family Violence Law Center, Kaiser Hayward, and Kaiser Fremont.
