The Bay Area's shelter-in-place order has brought countless events usually held as in-person gatherings online. We're aiming to support local businesses in San Francisco and Oakland by highlighting five of these events each day.

Here's your SF events calendar for Tuesday, April 14. Choose between an erotic storytelling event, a live drawing show or a yoga class filmed at Grace Cathedral — all from the comfort of your couch.

Xenophobia & Racial Profiling During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Asian-Americans, particularly Chinese-Americans, have faced discrimination and xenophobia in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. To discuss the impact, the Chinese Historical Society of America is hosting a talk with SF State's Asian-American studies professor Dr. Russell Jeung, who recently authored a paper on the phenomenon, along with ABC7 anchor Kristen Sze and Cynthia Choi, the executive director of civil rights organization Chinese for Affirmative Action.

Yoga on the Labyrinth: Online

With Grace Cathedral closed, its popular Yoga on the Labyrinth classes are moving online. At-home yogis can take a previously filmed class from the cathedral's archives each Tuesday evening.

Live Drawing Show with Author Dave Eggers

Acclaimed author and 826 Valencia founder Dave Eggers will draw and talk as part of this community chat session. His drawings can then be purchased by viewers, with all proceeds going to ScholarMatch, his Mission-based nonprofit that supports low-income students applying to and attending college.

SF Runs - Online Community Meetup

While group runs aren't possible right now, SF Runs is aiming to keep runners connected with a weekly community check-in on Zoom. Runners can share updates on their latest runs, discuss the best and safest places to go, get coaching from each other, and generally share their exercise experiences under shelter-in-place.

Leather District: Erotic Storytelling Hour

Spice up your quarantine evening with the Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District's evening of erotic storytelling, hosted by Beth Bicoastal and David Hyman. And if you've considered becoming a member of the District, now is the time — they're waiving fees until December for anyone whose income has been impacted by COVID-19.
