A 47-year-old cyclist is in serious condition after a hit-and-run in SoMa on Saturday afternoon.

Police say the man was struck by an SUV driver around 4:45 p.m., at Ninth and Mission streets. The driver, a 32-year-old man, was later located and arrested.

The victim was transported to the hospital, where he is expected to survive.

Ninth Street is considered a high-injury corridor under the city's Vision Zero plan, which aims to eliminate traffic fatalities by 2024.

A motorcyclist was critically injured at Ninth and Howard streets after being struck by a driver there in March 2018; that fall, a pedestrian was killed at the same intersection, also in a hit-and-run.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call the SFPD 24-hour tip line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.
