New Santa Clara boba tea bar barks up excitement among dog lovers and InstagrammersPhoto Credit: Woofs.us

There’s someplace new for dog owners in Silicon Valley to take made-for-Instagram photos of their pets, get boba tea, and soon order boba cocktails. Woof’s Bar is located along The Alameda in Santa Clara near the El Camino Real intersection. According to their website, the bar was created by 2-women who love dogs and one self-proclaimed nerd who loves tea. One of the women had a dream of opening a bar and when they all met the idea for a dog-friendly tea and cocktail establishment was born.

The shop opened pre-pandemic but was forced to close down when shelter-in-place orders went into effect. "The grand opening day people were lined up and packed inside the store. We were going to have the liquor license and start doing the alcohol in March to April timeframe to go along with the spring and summer frame, and then the pandemic happened,” Owner Joanne Liu told KTVU.

But now, Woof’s Bar is back open for business seven days a week and selling its unique version of boba tea and other specialty drinks to dog lovers.

"We use fresh fruit, we don't use powder. We only use real sugar and real fruit so we make it made-to-order. That is why it is fresher than other drinks. Our drink is more like Jamba Juice and a classic boba tea combination," Liu told KTVU. Woof’s Bar also has a selection of snacks like popcorn, honey waffle fries, and jalapeno poppers

Woof’s Bar says the atmosphere on a busy day can feel like a dog park. There are all kinds of activities for dogs and places for photo opportunities which have been a hit with Instagrammers. "They would stay here for at least a couple of hours and take photos," Liu told KTVU. She says she hopes to start doing evening events with DJs on the weekends once they obtain their license to sell their boba-infused cocktails.

Woof’s Bar will also be holding events that are geared toward pet adoption. "I personally rescue animals. We also want to promote the message, 'adopt don't shop' and help more animals get adopted," Liu says. You can bring your dog to Woof’s Bar and try their drinks Monday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday Through Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
