A popular Asian supermarket chain will soon be opening a new store in an unlikely Silicon Valley location. 99 Ranch Market is about to open its newest location inside Westfield Oakridge Mall in South San Jose and will take over the space that was formerly the Billy Beez indoor playground. According to the company's Northern California vice president, Teddy Chow, who spoke to the Silicon Valley Business Journal, the new 30,000 square foot store will be the company’s first-ever location inside a shopping mall.
99 Ranch Market is banking on shoppers utilizing the location to grab food as they head home from a day of shopping. “Have you ever been window shopping at Westfield Oakridge and suddenly realized that you still need to run to the grocery store to get stuff for dinner? Ugh. Now your free time has been cut short. Well, fortunately for you, 99 Ranch Market has everything covered,” a company news release says.
It won’t just be a place to pick up groceries, but also a to-go dining destination. “99 Ranch Market at Westfield Oakridge is also designed as a food destination with several quick-service food counters offering a great place for a delicious meal,” states the news release. “The hot deli has a delicious selection of made-to-order BBQ, Taiwanese Burrito (Run Bing)! And for those that love dim sum, check out all the traditional handmade dumplings, bun, and other foods available like rice noodle rolls, baked pork puffs, and steamed pork ribs.”
The Westfield Oakridge location opens on Tuesday, March 22nd at 9 a.m. A grand opening celebration is set to take place on Saturday, March 26th. The Mercury News reports that “the first 200 customers on both March 22 and 26 will receive swag bags.” 99 Ranch Market touts itself as the nation’s largest Asian grocery chain. The new Oakridge Mall location will be the second 99 Ranch Market location in San Jose. The chain also has several other Silicon Valley locations with stores in Mountain View, Milpitas, Fremont, and 2 locations in Cupertino.
