Oakland’s Uptown Nightclub replacement, Crybaby, opens this weekendRachel M. via Yelp

It was but six months into the pandemic that we learned that Oakland’s Uptown Nightclub would be closing permanently. The bar actually went for sale on Craigslist, and new ownership swore to keep it a live music venue, but new owners’ plans to change the name had some fans crying

Well who’s crying now? The Oaklandside reports that the new nightclub in the same venue Crybaby will be opening this weekend. In fact, there’s a show scheduled for Friday, March 4, and the venue already has shows booked through May.

“We want to have a diverse and inclusive calendar,” co-owner Jesse Tittsworth told the Oaklandside. “The brutal honesty of it is that a lot of people aren’t even booking right now.”
